The goal of this open API is to increase the Netvibes data portability and thus make it possible for users and partners to develop applications based on Netvibes' data.

It is free for a personal lightweight use. An extended version of the API will be provided in the future to access private data with authentication, as well as special packages for partners.

This API exposes some functionalities to access publicly available information.

Currently you can freely:

• retrieve all tabs and widgets in a user's Universe
• retrieve some tabs and their widgets
• retrieve a single tab and its widgets
• retrieve a single widget
• retrieve a user's public timeline
• search in a user's public timeline

The Netvibes REST API relies on easy URLs to send back data - a simple browser gives you access to all its possibilities. The default Netvibes REST endpoint is http://rest.netvibes.com.

Data can be retrieved in common formats: XML or JSON, and for the timeline RSS or Atom are also available. XML is the default format for all endpoint.
